A Reflective Blog

Reflection is considered a crucial philosophical activity which enables an individual to consider an experience, analyse and appraise it, and prepare for future actions based on the insight gained by this new perception.

I judge I will gain a deeper awareness in my learning practice as I work through each module of the Masters in Applied eLearning.

I believe achieving course aims and objectives will help me develop the required knowledge and skills to become an eLearning practitioner.

Gibbs model of reflection maps out this process, by providing a structure it allows reflections to develop a cycle based on, description, thoughts and feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and future action.

This video examines how reflective practice can be used to critically examine teaching methods. Explaining that teaching methods may reflect a teacher’s attitudes and assumptions, good reflective practice will seek to continually question attitudes and assumptions, ensuring they are not hindering good practice. Reflective practice justifies the inclusion of student feedback in resource development.

Resource Development

The process of creating an eLearning resource, can look relatively straightforward at the planning stages, my experience is that programs and the their limitations, such as the 30 day trail period for using Articulate, can have big effects on the flow of resource development, the developer often has to use multiple platforms, streamlining these platforms to work together sharing files in different formats causes further complications. It certainly had the effect of slowing down my rate progress, especially in ePortfolio development. Nevertheless I was pleased with the final eResource, and it worked as I had envisaged at the planning stage.

Course Reflections

eLearning is a highly developed educational sector here in Alberta and I will endeavour to use my knowledge of technology-based education and training in pursuit of new opportunities. My supervisor Roisin Donnelly has literally being a rock of support during this process, and if not for her understanding and support I doubt I would have made the final effort to complete.

Course reflections

As is said life, has a way of getting in the way of best- laid plans of mice and men; and as “I face the final curtain” of the Applied Masters in eLearning, it has been a long and sometimes difficult journey.

Reflecting on Masters

Looking back I certainly hope all the effort and time expended on the Masters in Applied eLearning was worth it. eResource Design and Development

The applied project and journal paper, should showcase a summation of the knowledge gained throughout the course, I enjoyed the construction and design phase of the elearning resource, applying software applications to produce a polished functional learning resource. Journal Paper

The completion of the journal paper proved to be a tougher assignment than I envisaged, constant reiterations were required, with many changes to layout and structure, the requirement to detail the development, implementation and evaluation of the resource in 7000 words proved arduous. Looking back I certainly hope all the effort and time expended was worth it.

Creating a website on Yola: June 2015

Publishing the resource to the web: May 2015

Hi Roisin,

Below is the temporary link to my completed resource. This link is to a temporary server at Articulate (I have a trail period to this server which expires in 8 days), it checks to see if my resource publishes to the web.
